Why it exists

New graduates should not learn stereotactic on a department’s clock.

Most first jobs still assume a long apprenticeship in 3D and IMRT before a therapist ever stands for an SRS. Departments that run Edge, Halcyon, and low-dose programs cannot wait that long. The BOSS fellowship closes the gap before placement.

Fellows train in Winter Park at the Renaissance Institute, with enhanced instruction in stereotactic radiosurgery, SBRT, and non-oncologic radiation medicine — including LDRT. They leave with a credentialed RTT (or registry completion) and a seat in the company’s placement program.

Curriculum

Four months, four depths.

  1. Month 01

    Stereotactic radiosurgery

    • Frameless cranial SRS workflows and immobilization
    • Image guidance, intrafraction monitoring, and 6DOF corrections
    • Non-coplanar radiosurgery delivery on the Edge platform
    • Indications from brain metastases to functional SRS (observation)

  2. Month 02

    SBRT / SABR

    • Body immobilization, 4D CT, and motion management
    • SBRT for lung, liver, spine, prostate, and breast
    • Cone-beam CT and high-fidelity in-room imaging
    • Safety, documentation, and time pressure of high-dose fractions

  3. Month 03

    Non-oncologic radiation medicine

    • Ultra-low-dose radiotherapy (LDRT) for osteoarthritis and inflammatory conditions
    • Functional radiosurgery for selected neurologic indications
    • Consent, coaching, and the patient conversation unique to non-cancer care
    • Joint, spine, and emerging LDRT workflows

  4. Month 04

    Independent practice and placement

    • Lead-therapist competencies and vault leadership
    • QA, timeout culture, and multi-platform fluency (Edge, Halcyon, C-arm)
    • Case review, professionalism, and interview preparation
    • Matching through the BOSS placement program
